I remember a couple of years back (read- three) I was talking to a makeup obsessed friend of mine and telling here that I really want to buy a foundation. Yes, you read that right, I didn’t even own a foundation back in 2014. She convinced me not to buy because my skin didn’t need it. I am very happy and thankful about that. But you know since over the years my obsession for makeup grew and makeup stash started growing bigger. I am now a hoarder. Even though I don’t wear foundation on a daily basis but I still have around 6 or 7 different ones lying around in my vanity. I have, till now, never gone through an entire bottle of foundation. Whaaaa !!!
Anyway, since my love for makeup is not going anywhere, I picked up two new foundations recently – the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay in Place Makeup. Having heard tons of good things about the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, I gave it a test and I really loved it. The shade was a perfect match for my skin. I picked up the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light on a whim. I thought its going to be a good day wear, light coverage foundation. I made a trip to Biscester Village when I was in the UK in April. I saw that this one was much cheaper than what we get back home so I didn’t take too long to put it in my shopping cart.
The best part about this one is that it comes in a lot of shades so I am sure everyone can find something which matches their skin tone perfectly. It is long lasting medium coverage. The coverage depends on how you apply it. I apply with a beauty blender to give me a natural light coverage. With a brush, the coverage will be more towards the heavier side. It doesn’t cake up, however it does break around my nose area. That’s probably because I have switched up my moisturizer recently. It feels rather light on the skin like you’re not wearing any makeup. It doesn’t contain SPF so it is a good pick for nighttime.
Price – £ 40 (ie. Approx. INR 3300)
Shade – 3.5
I actually haven’t heard anything about this version, of course we know how well-loved the Double Wear Foundation is. I love that it comes in a tube rather than a glass bottle, as it is more convenient to travel with. I would say this one is somewhere in between a BB cream and a foundation. It has a sheer coverage but can be easily built-up. It surely has more coverage than a BB/CC cream. The finish is flawless, very skin-like. It doesn’t make my skin glow or anything but it evens out the face so it is perfect for everyday use.
Price – £ 22 (from Bicester) (Actual price £ 32.50 ie. Approx. INR 2600. On Nykaa – INR 3300)
Shade – Intensity 2.0
Overall, I have been loving both the foundations. I find myself reaching out for the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light more during the day and the Giorgio Armani one for night.
