5 Podcasts Worth Listening To

podcasts, acast, at home with, happier,

Most evenings I go down to the park below my house for a walk. I usually walk for about 40-60 minutes, depending on how much time I have that day before my husband comes back from work. That 40 minutes to an hour is something that I really look forward to each day. Because that’s the time I listen to podcasts. I don’t like listening to music when I go down for a walk, that’s something I do when I do a proper workout. I think of my walk time as a win-win because I get out of the house, get some fresh air, do myself a favor by clocking in around 8000 steps and also gain some information by listening to podcasts. I used to listen to podcasts on the ‘Podcast’ app on my iPhone. But very recently, I wanted to listen to one particular podcast (which is there in this list) which wasn’t available on the Indian podcast store (or whatever it is called). So I downloaded this app called ‘Acast’ which had that podcast and now I’ve switched to this app completely.

Acast is an app which can be downloaded on Apple as well as Android devices. The reason I like this more than the ‘Podcast’ app for Apple devices is that there is a separate tab for the podcasts that you have downloaded. So its very easy to find the episodes that you have downloaded, instead of going through the entire list of episodes and figuring out which episode does not have the ‘store to iCloud’ sign. Most of the times I download a few episodes over WiFi and listen to them during that walk time.

This is not a sponsored post by any means, I just wanted to share my experience with the app.

So here is a list 5 Podcasts that I loved listening to:

  1. Serial

This was the first ever podcast I listened to. This one is different from the others that I am going to mention in this list, mostly because the rest of them are mostly talk-show types, whereas this one is more like a fictional novel. Serial is based on a true story. It is a murder mystery. It is centered around the mysterious disappearance of a high school girl. Later on, her body is found and her ex-boyfriend is arrested for the crime. It is like listening to an audiobook. I haven’t finished it yet. But how they unravel the facts of the murder is quite interesting.

 2. Lets Discuss

Lets Discuss is a podcast hosted by two friends and lifestyle bloggers, Monica of ‘The Elgin Avenue’ and Ella of ‘Coco’s Tea Party’. It is a weekly podcast and is in the form of a conversation between these two friends about life, adulting, work, love etc. They also invite other people and chat with them about different topics. On one of the episodes, they had Madeleine Shaw, who is a wellness expert and has written some amazing cookbooks. They spoke about how to stay healthy during the festive season, getting fit etc. Another episode hosted Kristina Karlsson founder of Kikki K stationery, one of my favorite stationery brands. They spoke about setting goals and how to achieve them, staying positive etc. In short, in each episode, you learn something new without even realizing it. I have heard almost all of their episodes and now I’m waiting for their new season.

3.  Happier With Gretchen Rubin

This is the podcast because of which I downloaded the ‘Acast’ app. In a world where we are constantly searching for happiness, this is must-listen-to podcast. In this podcast, she discusses good habits with her sister. This is no way is a philosophical, search the soul kind of a podcast. She just talks about how small habits can make you a happier person and gives real-life examples of her and her sister’s lives. In one of the episodes she talks about the ‘1-minute rule’, which is if something can be done in a minute, whether it is sorting out a pile of clothes or replying to an email, then rather than procrastinating it, just do it and you will feel better about it. And it is true. I have applied it in my life now and it does really make you feel better and your mind is less cluttered. Gretchen Rubin has written a few books as well, one of them being ‘The Happiness Project’ which is on my ‘To Read in 2018’ list.

4. At Home With..

This podcast is hosted by my favorite bloggers and YouTubers, Lily Pebbles and Anna Newton. They take a tour of the houses of some very different kind of people and look through (not in a snooping, creepy kind of way) through their possessions and talk about their lives, careers etc. They have been to Zoe Snugg, the blogger Zoella’s home, Elexia Inge, founder of Cult Beauty, Lisa Eldridge, makeup artist’s homes and a few more. Sadly, they just have aired the first season till now and I can’t wait for season 2.

5. The Influencer Podcast

Well, this one is only for influencers and content creators. This is a podcast hosted by a blogger Julie Solomon. She talks about influencer marketing, branding strategies, blogging resources, growing your social media etc. It also invites famous influencers/ content creators like Nikki Phillipi, Sazan Hendrix, and the likes to talk about their experience and strategies.

This was my top 5 Podcast list. So listen away. Tell me your favorite ones and I download them.
