Budget Beauty – Makeup Starter Kit

Budget Beauty, drug store makeup

Hello everyone, this week is #LFMBudgetBeautyWeek where I will be talking (or I should say, writing) about all affordable beauty products. In today’s post, as you must have already read, I will be writing about a makeup starter kit containing drugstore beauty products.

I feel, for a person who doesn’t put too much makeup or is just starting out with makeup, whether you are in school or college or are working, you shouldn’t invest in expensive products. Before taking the plunge to buy luxury beauty products, one should try out different kinds of affordable products and formulas and seeing what suits you the best. Atleast that is what I did. I wasn’t into makeup until about 3-4 years ago. I also didn’t know about a lot of brands of makeup other than Maybelline, Loreal, MAC etc. Now ofcourse it is a different ball game together.

When you are just starting out, all you need are the basics. Once you get into it and know how to apply you take dive into the vast sea of products available. For the Face, start off with a BB or CC cream, which has a sheer to medium to coverage. Lots of budget BB/ CC creams are available in the market now. Loreal True Match BB Cream is medium coverage, matte finish BB cream. Compact Powders are an essential item in your makeup bag irrespective of whether you are a pro at makeup or just starting out. They remove traces of oil from your face and mattify the skin. Loreal’s Mat Magique is a good option.

I don’t think I need to tell any Indian girl about Kohl. It is the most famous and the most used makeup product. I like using Lakme’s Iconic Kajal in Black. It doesn’t smudge and last a long time on the waterline. For Liner, the felt tip liners are the easiest to use. Maybelline’s Colossal Liner is a good buy. No look is complete without some Mascara. Rimmel’s Glam Eyes Lash Flirt Mascara gives an amazing volume to the lashes. It makes them look long and fluttery without clumping.

For Blush, Maybelline Cheeky Glow is my go to choice. It is super affordable and gives a nice rosy flush to the cheeks. I don’t have that one me currently, hence it is missing from the picture. For Lips, a lot of brands have different kinds of texture, finishes, application etc. My picks are Maybelline’s Color Show Lipstick and Miss Claire’s liquid lipstick. Basic nudes are an essential item in every makeup kit.
