I have been getting a lot of greys recently. But I am very skeptical of colouring my hair. I have only done it twice before. I have always had this thought that colouring damages your hair, makes it very rough and dull. Premature greying can happen because of a lot of reason. It can be due to unhealthy eating habits, stress, lack of nutrients in the body, hereditary, environmental factors etc.
I recently, got to try the B Blunt’s Salon Secret at-home mini hair colouring kit. What intrigued me the most was that the box mentions that it is a hi-shine crème hair colouring kit. Coloured hair and shiny hair do not get along with each other I thought. But nevertheless, I tried on the at-home hair colour. The kit comes with a tube each of the colourant and developer and two sachets of the hi-shine tonic and a pair of disposable gloves.
I chose the colour Coffee – Natural Brown 4.31. It comes in the following 7 different colours which are specifically created to compliment Indian skin tones.
• Black – NATURAL BLACK 1
• Chocolate – DARK BROWN 3
• Blueberry – BLUE BLACK 2.10
• Honey – LIGHT GOLDEN BROWN 5.32
• Wine – DEEP BURGUNDY 4.20
• Mahogany – REDDISH BROWN 4.56
• Coffee – NATURAL BROWN 4.31
I have had this colour on for about 4 weeks. I wanted to test it out fully and also see how long does the colour last before I could share my review. It does say that the colour lasts for about 4-6 weeks. I do have quite a few strands of grey hair, but I don’t need to touch up my roots every now and then. So for me the colour has lasted for these four weeks, and I can just see 2-3 strands of grey popping out. As for the shine, the shine lasts as long as the colour is on. I did think that the shine would fade after a few washes, but inspite of me washing my hair every other day, the colour and shine, both are still there. I should mention here that I do not use a hair protectant shampoo. I have been using my normal TIGI Stunning Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.
The process of colouring seemed pretty simple. But since I had never coloured my hair on my own, I did call for a beautician from Urban Clap to apply the colour. But it seemed so easy and quick that the next time I am going to do it myself. The beautician applied the colour onto my entire hair focusing specifically on the greys. I left it on for 30 minutes. The result was shiny, glossy hair and not a strand of grey.
The B Blunt Salon Secret is a perfectly priced, convenient at home hair colouring kit and I am super impressed with the quality. I loved how my hair felt even and looked even after frequent hair washes.
