Since I moved to Delhi I have put on a few kilos (read 7 kgs). I don’t know how. So I am trying very hard to get rid of the extra fat. I have started going to the gym and trying to eat healthy. But you know there are some days when you just want to stuff your mouth with all the junk you can see.
Breakfast, as we all know is the most important meal of the day. You should have a sumptuous breakfast so that you don’t get the urge to binge eat throughout the day.
Oats are considerably low in calories and also have a number of other disease fighting benefits. They contain magnesium, fibre, protein and help in keeping you full for longer. The days I have this as my breakfast, I don’t feel hungry till lunch time.
Overnight oats is something that is so easy to make, hardly requires any ingredients and takes no time to prepare. The best part is it does not require any cooking. You can also have it on the go.
½ cup oats (I use the Quaker Oats)
2 tablespoons curd
¼ cup milk
1 tablespoon chia seeds (you don’t need to buy expensive bottles from fancy supermarket, just ask your grocery vendor for ‘sabja seeds’)
2 tablespoons honey/ maple syrup (for the sweetness)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)
Fruits of your choice
Mix all the ingredients together in a jar. When you have the consistency of your liking, cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning top with it up with almonds if you prefer.
You can use any fruit you want and try a lot of variations. I sometimes use bananas, pomegranates, blueberries, etc, depending on whatever is available and there in my fridge.
