Loreal Paris Mat Magique Compact Powder

Loreal launched this range of affordable compact powders a while back. Almost very blogger has reviewed this product by now. I know I am quite late on the band wagon, but that is because I didn’t like the product at all when I first used it. I did not want to recommend something that I didn’t like at all. But after using it in a different way, I started enjoying the product. Read on to see my review on this Loreal Paris Mat Magique Compact Powder.

I bought this way back in September. I also did a haul post on it (read here). I used this for a few days in the morning before going to work. Mornings are usually very busy for me, so after applying it I didn’t notice anything. But when I reached office and looked at myself in the mirror, I noticed a white layer on my face. My face looked very chalky. I ignored it for a day or two. But then one of my work colleagues told me that I have put on too much makeup today and I look artificial. That is when I gave it a little more thought and realized that this is the only product I have changed in my morning routine. I stopped using it.

Then last month, in November, I thought of giving it a go again. But this time I used a powder brush to apply it instead of the sponge that comes with it. And much to my surprise, I quite liked the product. I applied it a few more time before I finally made my opinion on this compact powder.

I have been liking this product. I wouldn’t say that it is best compact powder available in the market. But for its price, it is a good product. I featured it in my November Favorites too (read here). It comes in a sturdy packaging with a mirror inside and a sponge. It comes in 5 shades to suit Indian skin tone. It is good when a product comes in a variety of shades to suit all skin tones. I have the shade G2 – Golden Ivory. It also has SPF 34PA+++ which makes it perfect for day wear.

It gives a medium coverage. It is not very drying like some of the compact powders I have used. It does mattify the skin as the name suggests. However, I found that the mattifying effect lasts only for about 3-4 hours, not 12 hours as the brand claims. I would say it is a good compact for winters, when your skin is less oily. I use it with my Real Techniques 2 in 1 Kabuki Brush.

Price: Rs. 399
