I cannot live without lip balms. I need to have a lip balm on me all the time. That’s because I have very dry and chapped lips. Whether it is summer or winter, my lips always are flaky. I keep applying lip balms every few hours and especially before going to bed. Needless to say I have tried most of the lip balms available in the market. So here are my top 5 picks:
The Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner
This is probably my favorite one. It does a really good job at keeping my lips moisturized. It is especially formulated for very dry lips. This is the one that I go for every night before going to sleep.
Price: Rs. 295/-
The Body Shop Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick
This one isn’t as moisturizing as the Hemp Lip Conditioner but it still does a pretty good job at keeping the lips supple.
Price: Rs. 350/-
Maybelline Baby Lips in Mango Pie
Maybelline Baby Lips are available in a lot of flavours. They have come up with new variant of Baby Lips, which I haven’t tried. This Mango Pie lip balm in non-tinted and smells amazing. I have tried the tinted version of the Baby Lips but found didn’t like it too much. I thought they don’t apply evenly on my lips and found my lips to be even more drying after applying it.
Price: Rs. 125
Lucas’ Papaw Ointment
I got this on my trip to Australia. They seemed to have it in every single drug store. These were also available at their airport. So I thought of checking it out and apparently it is very famous and a holy grail product of a lot of celebrities. So I picked up one. In my opinion it is a very thick version of Vaseline. I don’t use this every day but I gravitate towards this when my lips are extremely chapped. Last week my lips were cracked and were paining quite badly on the side, so much so that I couldn’t even open my mouth without it hurting. So I went for this one and in two to three days my lips were in a much better condition.
I don’t remember its price and I don’t think its available in India.
Nuxe Reve de Miel
This is a very luxurious product I feel. It is very thick and wax like in consistency. I usually apply this one before applying a matte lipstick as it isn’t very glossy or slippery. I would say it does a decent job at keeping lips hydrated. What I don’t like about this is that it comes in a tub and I hate digging my fingers into it. The lip balm gets stuck in my nails and becomes very messy.
Price: Don’t remember but quote expensive for a lip balm
Nivea Fruity Shine
I love this one mostly for its watermelon fragrance. The consistency of this one is light and not very thick. I feel this is good for the summer season.
Price: Rs. 140
