It is quite essential to change your skincare routine with the change in season. In winters, skin is more prone to getting dry and flaky. Most of my skincare routine essentially remains the same during summers and winters, however I switch up some products here and there so as to ensure my skin remains moisturized through out.
The first thing I do is to remove my makeup. I have been using The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. I take approximately 2 pumps of this and with my fingers gently massage it onto my dry skin. I use it for the entire face as well as around the eye to remove any traces of Kajal, eye liner etc. This cleansing oil is mild on the skin yet so effective. Then just take a wet cloth or water to wipe it off. It doesn’t leave any residue behind.
I always do a double cleanse to make sure that there are absolutely no traces of makeup left on the skin. So after removing my makeup with the cleansing oil, I wash my face using this Forest Essentials Kashmiri Saffron and Neem Delcate Facial Cleanser. It is a very mild cleanser, hence perfect for winter time. I love the combination of The Body Shop Cleansing Oil and the Forest Essentials Face Wash as it doesn’t dry my skin out at all.
I feel using a facial oil is essential for your skin. Irrespective of the skin type, one must include a facial oil in the skin care regime. Most people with oily or acne prone skin are scared of using oils on their face, but oils are known to counteract the natural oils from your face. I have been using the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate for more than a year now. During the summer time I used to use it 2-3 times a week, but come winters and I use it every night. I have reviewed the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate in detail (read full review here).
Sometimes when I get lazy I skip this step. I have started noticing lines under my eyes now. Lets face it, no ones getting younger. But using any hydrating eye cream is very important once you cross that 25-26 years mark. I do not have dark circles, hence I use the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. It is pure hydration for your under eye area. It is very creamy and a little goes a long way.
In winter time, using a facial oil by itself is not enough for my skin. I need that extra dose of moisture. I am currently using the Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti Aging Night Cream. I am 27 and I feel that this is the right time to start incorporating an anti aging product in my skin care regime. It is not a very heavy duty moisturizer but still a little thick. After a week or two of using it regularly, you will notice a slight glow on your face.
My skincare routine is incomplete without a lip balm especially in winters. I have very dry and flaky lips all year round. I have been using The Body Shop Hemp Lip Protector. I have done a full post on My Top Lip Balms (read here).
