As much as I love hoarding makeup items, there are times when I get into a clear out mood and get rid of that 20th lip pencil or that 4th highlighter which I haven’t touched since years. As we all know, all makeup has an expiration date. That date is usually written at the back of the packaging or if its not written then you can always google it. Say, foundations expire after 12-24 months, mascaras after 3-6 months etc.
Since we always talk about products that must buy and are must haves, there are a few makeup bits that you definitely do not need and can easily be substituted for by other products that you already have.
It is supposed to make your makeup last longer, but do you wear makeup for more than just a couple of hours? I don’t. Using a long lasting foundation like the Loreal Infallible 24h Foundation will ensure that your foundation stays intact for a long time.
Apply your regular concealer onto your eyelids and trust me its going to do the same job as an eyeshadow primer. It will cancel out the veins and also give a nice base colour to your shadow.
You don’t need to spend extra bucks on buying a separate eyebrow powder. Simply use an eye shadow, which matches your brow colour instead. Trust me, there is no difference.
If you use a primer just for the sake of extending the wear of your makeup then just switch to a long lasting foundation. A lot of brands these days have come out with long lasting makeup. look for words like ‘Double Wear’, ‘HD’, ‘All Day’.
As much as we all love to get those chiseled cheekbones, we don’t really need to spend extra buck on a bronzer. You can also use your matte eyeshadows to get the same effect.
I hope you enjoyed reading this list. I am guilty of owning each and every product mentioned above but if you are on a budget or if you don’t wear a ton of makeup, you can definitely do without them as well.
